The underwater lavender fields of Penghu, known for their lavender-blue staghorn coral, are a celebrated natural feature in Taiwan. Located around the Dongjiyu area, these corals contribute to Penghu's recognition, creating a surreal underwater landscape that is not only a diver's paradise but also accessible to snorkelers.
The coral reefs sit in shallow waters, no deeper than 6 meters, where the vibrant purple of the staghorn coral contrasts with the green cabbage coral. Despite the popularity of the site, the reefs remain in excellent condition and are teeming with a diverse array of marine life, including numerous small fish species that thrive among the corals¹.
This site is much more than a photogenic spot; it represents a thriving, dynamic ecosystem and is a testament to the natural beauty of Penghu.
